Long description:
The PC version of the Lagrangian Dispersion Model is used for the same purposes as the larger mainframe version (see Model 1). Drift and dispersion calculations can be carried out for floating persons or objects, oil and water-soluble chemicals. Oil physics and chemistry are simulated in the same way as in the mainframe version. A difference to the mainframe version is that the PC version is restricted to the area of the German Bight. Drift and dispersion forecasts are only based on the transport by wind and tidal currents. In the PC version, wind induced currents are determined by a simple parameterisation using wind predictions of the German Weather Service (DWD).
